State of the Union
Skip Largent

As declarations of war are flying the globe
like scud missiles, the true terrorist remains hidden.
The mastermind of violence and death
is not in the caves of Pakistan, nor in the
oval office, nor in the vaults of banks, but in
labyrinths much closer to all of us.

The terrorist within each of us: Fear.

Until it is searched out in the battleground
of the human brain, located and eliminated,
Fear will haunt us in its many violent masks
and in its subtle patterns of illusion
until we destroy ourselves.

The battleground begins in you. Fear is the enemy.

---------------------------------

The origins, evolutions, and solutions to all your problems, and the problems of civilization,
are located within a three inch radius from the center of your head.

It is, at once, a space you've never been and a place you've never left.

At this very instant, it houses heaven, earth and hell, Bush and bin Laden, super strings and silly string, everything you know that you know, and everything you don't know you know - the entire humaniverse.

The human brain. Your brain. Have you been there?

The human brain is a three-tiered cosmology with seven subdivisions. It is constructed and updated continuously by a human field of electromagneticism. You are that field essentially. If you desire to survive the human catastrophe that is now enveloping this planet, you must start by bringing balance and attunement to this field and the three intelligence systems perched on your shoulders.

----------------------------------

Your human field balances and attunes itself by way of your synchronization with lovingness. Unbalance derives from fear. The field emerges from a complex neural network, the Reticular Activating System, in the top of your spine, forming a double torus over the head and over the lower body. ( a torus field resembles a doughnut shape )

No part of the human triune brain WORKS until the electromagnetic field emanating from your Reticular Activating System tells it to work (including your exalted neocortex). Lacking spark from the Reticular Activating System, the three brains in your head sit there like a stack of jello.

The neocortex sits atop this stack. Just below it is the paleomammalian (emotional) brain. Lowest on the totem is the reptilian brain.

These three brains evolved in vertebrates over a period of 350 million years. Each system is a biocomputer with specific types of programing and operating language. Getting these systems to work together harmoniously is our present challenge.

It is important to note that the neocortex is the infant of these systems. It evolved around 500,000 years ago, and in humans it has grown so large that it dwarfs the older systems. By contrast, the emotional brain developed about 250 million years ago, and the reptilian brain evolved approximately 350 million years ago. These older systems are more inter-operationally adept than the newer neocortex, which is still " working out some kinks."

The "kinks," however, in the past 5000 years have brought the human species to the edge of extinction.

The seven "subdivisions" of these three brains are:
- the left and right hemispheres of the reptilian brain
- the septum, amygdala, and thalamocingulate areas of the emotional brain
- the left and right hemispheres of the neocortex (the infamous "leftbrain" & "rightbrain")

It is the "State of the Union" of these intelligence systems that I point to in this writing.
