Fairy Ball on Paseo

How shall we beguile the lazy summer if not with some delight? Children, parents and friends are invited to keep the ‘spirit of enchantment’ alive at the midsummer Fairy Ball with artists on Paseo. All ages are welcome to this creative summer celebration, a delightful evening of make believe, music, and dance on Saturday, August 1 from 7:30 to 9:30 P.M.

Paseo’s unique community celebration is a dress-up event where everyone is encouraged to transform themselves into a character from a fairy garden. Children are especially asked to use their imaginations and dress-up as bugs, blossoms, elves, fairies ; even unknown creatures.

"Come out and play at dusk, this is the time when the Fairy Ball captures the magic of summer," says Lorrie Keller of Theatre Upon a StarDanceSwan who has designed past balls. The children are so excited, all together in their costumes they become garden of color and laughter."

The evening begins with flowers as children gather to weave their costumes with flowers, leaves and streamers. At dusk, when the dance begins, Paseo shimmers in a fantasy as young and old dance to original music by Steve McLinn of OJAS and Larry Keller. The dancers of StarDanceSwan are fancying a surprise for the ball that encourages everyone to spin in dreamy light and listen to the songs of summer.

Paseo artists are preparing a Fairy Glen for this summer’s Ball in a new location behind the Art of Yoga Studio at 2920 Paseo. Free to the public, the Fairy Ball begins with Flower Magic at 7:30 PM followed by the dance from 8:00 to 9:30 PM. This event is created by Theatre Upon a StarDanceSwan. It is supported in part by the Kirkpatrick Family Fun and Paseo Art Association. For information call the Paseo Art Association at 525-2688.
