The Midsummer Faerie Ball 07 on Paseo

How shall we beguile the lazy summer, if not with some delight? Come to a Faerie Ball on Paseo in celebration of Theatre Upon a StarDanceSwan's 25 years of dance and wonder making in Oklahoma. StarDanceSwan invites children and adults of any age to join them in a delightful summer evening of make-believe, music, and dance on the lawn of Old Trinity Studio on Saturday, July 21 from 7:30 to 10:00 P.M.

This unique community celebration is a dress-up event where everyone is encouraged to transform themselves into a character from a faerie garden. Bugs, blossoms, elves and faeries are expected to appear on Paseo as the shadows of evening fall. "What is so fun about this evening is that the already unusual Paseo Arts District becomes extraordinary as these colorful faerie tale characters seem to materialize from the summer air" says artist, Elizabeth Muller. "It is not just the children who fall in love with this evening, their parents, teenagers and even grandparents come to the ball arrayed in the spirit of faerie."

The Faerie Ball begins with flower magic as all guests gather round Old Trinity Studio to weave their costumes in flowers, leaves and streamers. And then we dance! Steve McLinn of Ojas Music will provide his original music, much of which has been composed for StarDanceSwan's performances throughout the years. Dancing is the heart of the evening as the children in their midsummer finery truly become the wonder and compel everyone to join them. Dancers who appeared in the company as children will reunite as adults at this Faerie Ball. Their performance will touch again that evocative whimsy which is StarDanceSwan. "This has become an awaited yearly event " says artistic director , Lorrie Keller . "Everybody is encouraged to shape the fantasy, spin the dreamy light, gaze into endless stars and listen to the songs of summer."

Free to the public, A Midsummer's Faerie Ball begins with Flower Magic at 7:30 P.M., followed by the dance from 8:30 to10:00 P.M. Old Trinity Studio is located in the Paseo Arts District at 3000 N. Lee. This event is sponsored by the Kirkpatrick Family Fund, the Paseo Artists Association and Theatre Upon a StarDanceSwan.
