3brain notes/ Neo-evol stage/ feb 1
hello my dear friends. hoping all is well for you & sending lovewaves.
i am going to hold off on notes for sleepwalkers. we'll do all that in a marathon
rehearsal on saturday, february 18. the primary need is to work out sequences,
and then do it over & over. the notes for the 3 - 4 rotation periods will
be ready next week. on the 18th, we'll also work on these and the part of the
intro-evo piece with Neo when all 4 of you are present. and i'll treat everyone
to dinner!
this weekend, the 4th, jenan & marissa rehearse - the 5th, lynna joins jenan
& marissa. we need to set times. right now i know that saturday, marissa
can rehearse after 2pm - and sunday, marissa has to be free by 3pm. jenan &
lynna, what about you? Lorrie?
tomorrow, lynna & i are talking, trying to work out more rehearsal time.
i will let everyone know.
below is the draft scripting of the Neo stage of evo. all of you should read
it, since you'll all be involved.

draft scripting for Neo's 15 minute evo-stage

(Marissa & Jenan, I see all the things that Neo says & does [up until
the time that the first hand separation occurs] as being childlike, as kids
who are 3 or 4 might behave. After the one hand is separated, they start behaving
more like spoiled adolescents. After both hands are separated, they act more
like headstrong 13 - 16 year-olds)
Z will bring Neo out from behind the curtains. Their hands are not connected.
Z will connect them, talking about the famous "Left & Right Brain."
They begin their weaving motions. Z will then turn their light on & point
it into their faces.
When Jenan & Marissa feel the light in their face, they repeat 3 time in
unison (childlike)
" I am the Light! "
As Z talks about the Neo then, the ancient brains begin to move threateningly
toward the Neo. As Z talks about Neo over-riding the ancient brains, Neo moves
quickly to the Reptilian priestess at the left corner of the stage. There they
point at the Reptile, and say in unison
"Thou shalt be cast into darkness."
Then they turn off the priestess' light, and Casey cowers at mid-level. Neo
then moves quickly to the Paleo priestess at the right corner of the stage,
point at the Paleo, and says (unison)
"Thou shalt be cast into darkness."
Then they turn off her light, and Fig cowers with Casey in the center at mid-level.
Neo then moves to the cowering ancient brains & surrounds them with their
connected arms,
slowly forcing them down to the lowest level.
As it does this, the Neo chants three times,
Jen-"Thou shalt be thrown into the pit" & Marissa - "where
Light doth not shine."
With the ancient brains sprawled on the floor, Neo does a little victory jig,
laughing like little kids.
Marissa yells
"Give me an 'L'!" Jenan yells "L!"
"Give me an 'I'!" Jenan yells "I!"
"Give me a 'G!' Jenan yells "G!"
"Give me an 'H!'" Jenan yells "H!"
"Give me a 'T!'" Jenan yells "T!"
"What does it spell?"
Jenan giggles & yells "ME!"
Neo then points at Casey. Marissa commands her to "Roll over!" Casey
does. Then Marissa commands Casey to "Play dead!" Casey does.
Then Neo points at Fig. Jenan commands her to "Sit up!" Fig does.
Then Jenan commands her to "Beg!" Fig does.
While Neo does this, Z gives Lynna their light. Neo moves quickly to Lynna &
surrounds her with their connected arms, circling her - Lynna circles counter
to Neo, afraid but trying to shine the light on their faces. Lynna then ducks
under Neo's arms & tries to shine the light on the dark ancient brains.
Neo will have none of this. They move quickly to surround Lynna again, Jenan
saying,
" No-no, they are animals. You're not an animal are you?"
Marissa follows with,
"Let the beasts dwell in darkness. You are not an animal!"
They begin circling her again, this time forcing Lynna to turn in the same direction
(light pointed down). Then Neo forces her to floor, chanting 3 times (alternately)
Jenan - " I am the Light & the Truth."
Marissa - "I am the Light & the Word."
together - " Let there be Light."
When Lynna is on the convulsing in spiritual ecstasy, Neo rises, starts swooping
around the area, celebrating & chanting,
" It is saved! It is saved! It is saved!"
Neo's celebration takes it over the ancient brains. Marissa stops & commands
to Casey,
" From this time until the endtime, you will be called Underworld!"
Jenan adds, "It is good!" (Casey rolls over & plays dead)
Marissa then commands Fig,
"From this time until the endtime, you will be called World!"
Jenan adds, "It is good!" (Fig sits up & begs)
Then Marissa commands, "And we are called World-Without-End!"
Jenan adds, "It is good!"
Then, grinning at each other, they say " IT is VERY good!"
Then Neo sweeps back over to Lynna, still convulsing. Jenan looks at Lynna,
then Marissa & says,
" We need servants."
Marissa answers,
" It is spoken! We will make a creature in our own likeness!"
Jenan says,
"We will scoop it out of the earth & make it in our own image."
They kneel down & raise Lynna to a sitting position, which is dificult &
they pause, breathing hard.
Jenan says, " We are breathing into her the breath of life."
Marissa says "Oh!"
They proceed to raise her up, laboriously. Marissa celebrates, intoning to Lynna,
"You are the chosen one. You are a child of the Light!"
Jenan grumbles, " She may be Light, but she is not light."
Neo reaches down to the light in Lynna's hand and raises it to point in Jenan's
face - to which Jenan sighs and says "It is good!"
Marissa waits patiently for all of 7 seconds, then guides the light into her
face, saying, " Ah. It is good!"
Jenan waits patiently for all of 5 seconds, then guides the light back to her
face, commanding, "More light!"
Marissa waits a split second, guides the light back to her face, commanding
"More light!"
This proceeds to a tug-of-war back & forth between the two faces, each demanding
"More light!"
Do this six times.
On the 7th time, the Neo's hands on the light tear apart - at which time all
five of the dancers freeze a second. Lynna drops the light. Jenan points the
finger of blame at Lynna and screams,
"Look what you have done, you stupid child!"
Marissa then points her finger at Lynna and roars, "You shall be cast into
hell & damnation for this! "
Lynna collapses to the floor, at which both Jenan & Marissa scream "No!
Pick up the light & follow."
All of the following moves very quickly and chaotically. Neo rushes toward Elizabeth
at the light booth screaming for more light, waving their free hands wildly.
Elizabeth responds dutifully & bring the lights to full.
Then Jenan & Marissa scream in unison - "NOT ENOUGH LIGHT!"
At this point, all the commonFolks, the poets, Homeland Security, everyone repeats
loudly everything Neo says, starting with "NOT ENOUGH LIGHT!"
And then begins a whirlwind attack of the tourists. Jenan and Marissa go into
the faces of two tourists on the left side of the performance area, their shame-fingers
pointed, demanding more light. After no more than 2 seconds, Jenan will scream,
"Off with her/his head!" and move on to another tourist. Marissa will
scream, "Cast him/her into the pit!" and move on to the next tourist.
They work to the right around the performance area. Everyone chants everything
they say after they say it. Lynna will rush to try to cover heads with black
bags, but Jenan & Marissa will be screaming, "More light!" and
she cannot manage the bags & keep the light shining on their faces, so no
one will be killed. Instead Homeland Security will follow behind as best as
possible demanding names & numbers. At different times, Jenan & Marissa
will yell at Casey to play dead & Fig to beg, all of which is repeated by
everyone. This should be a scene of chaos & noise, and go bang-bang-bang
around the area in no more than 2 minutes.
Neo should end up at the right corner of the platform where the Paleo priestess
is with her dark flashlight. When Jenan goes to her, I would like everything
to go deathly quiet. Everyone will stop repeating the Neo. Jenan will turn the
light back on and shine it into her own face. Jenan says "Ahhh!" And
Fig slowly starts to rise, re-empowered, and move behind Jenan.
When Marissa sees this, she is dismayed, screams,
"You can't do that! That's forbidden! You can't eat of that fruit! It's
not fair!"
Marissa then pulls Jenan, with the priestesses & Fig following, over to
the left corner of the platform to the Reptilian priestess and her dark light.
Marissa will then turn on the light, shine it in her own face & say "Ahhh!"
The group then moves center. Casey, re-empowered, moves behind Marissa.
At this point, Marissa & Jenan are still connected by one hand. Fig &
Casey will take hold of their free hands and slowly start pulling them apart
- once separated, Marissa & Jenan reach for each other desperately but uselessly
as they are pulled further & further apart. During this section, Z will
talk about the split, then hit the gong & the priestesses will end the evolution-intro.
The brains & priestesses will slowly exit for a short deserved rest.
